We work with child care providers, families and community agencies to support children in licensed child care centres, nursery schools and family child care homes where children have behaviour/social/emotional challenges.
If you are worried about a child in your child care facility, we may be able to help.
What we do
A Behaviour Support Coordinator will observe the child in your child care facility and/or in his own home. With input from the parent(s) and the child care staff, the Behaviour Support Coordinator will develop a comprehensive service plan and will coordinate services if there are several agencies/services involved.
The service plan will include some or all of the following components:
- Working with the parent and your child care staff to find better ways of understanding and meeting the child’s needs.
- Recommending new strategies and provide specialized resources.
- Providing coaching to your child care staff or develop a customized workshop.
- Offering professional support and guidance to the parent(s) and if needed will refer the family to other services in the community.
“I have nothing but great things to say…our coordinator has worked miracles with the family. We are very appreciative of the skills she has been able to provide to the staff. Thank you.” – Child Care Director
