Are you a newcomer to Winnipeg?
Our Neighborhood Immigrant Settlement Workers (NISW) work with newcomers to Canada residing or working in the following areas of Winnipeg:
- Tuxedo, River Heights, and Fort Rouge
- Fort Garry, Fort Richmond
The NISW can assist you with issues related to settlement and will work with you to assess your needs and offer information, advocacy and hands-on support. You will receive help accessing English classes, education, employment, health care, child care and recreation – and many more valuable resources. We will also work together to help you develop a better understanding of Canadian culture and skills to strengthen your family.
“The impact that (the NISW) has on her is that she always feel like she has somebody who listens to her. So if she has a problem, she can come to her, and she always finds a way. Even though, not immediately, but she will try to console her, talk to her, and probably they will laugh at something or some kind of stories, and then she will feel all better.” – focus group participant through interpreter
